Venue & Access Information
The meeting “Neuroscientists' Dialogue: Paediatric Hydrocephalus” is hosted at the Lighthouse of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), in the heart of one of the most beautiful urban landscapes in Athens. Address: 364 Syngrou Avenue, Kallithea. The venue is fully accessible to people with disabilities and wheelchair users, with ramps, elevators and specially designed areas — ideal for an event aimed at families with children.
By Public Transport
The SNFCC is easily reached by all means of transport:
- Free SNFCC shuttle bus: Departs from central Athens (Syntagma, near Ermou Street) and runs at regular intervals throughout the day, with an intermediate stop at the “Syngrou-Fix” Metro station. It is the most comfortable and economical option. We recommend checking the detailed timetable at snfcc.org before your visit.
- Metro: The nearest stations are “Syngrou-Fix” (Line 2) — from where you continue with the free shuttle — and “Kallithea” (Line 1), with a short route to the venue.
- Tram: The stops in the Tzitzifies area are a short distance away, with a pleasant walk to the entrance of the Park.
- Buses: The wider area, on Syngrou Avenue and the coastal road, is served by several urban lines (e.g. 550, 229, 217).
By Car & Parking
The SNFCC has a large underground car park, open 24 hours a day, with direct access (elevators) to the event spaces. Since Sunday is a high-traffic day, we suggest arriving early. For those travelling by bicycle, there are bicycle parking spots at the entrances of the Center.
Activities at the Venue
One of the great advantages of the SNFCC is that your visit can become a complete family outing. Around the meeting spaces lies the Stavros Niarchos Park, a free, green 21-hectare park with:
- Playgrounds and outdoor games for younger and older ages.
- Walking, running and cycling routes, as well as the impressive Meadow for rest and play.
- The Canal, where water activities (canoe/kayak, pedal boats) take place at certain times of the year.
- The Lighthouse at the top of the building, with panoramic views of the sea and the city.
- The National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera, as well as seasonal, often free, cultural and sports activities.
So, after the programme ends, children and families can enjoy the rest of their time in a safe, welcoming and entertaining environment.
