Konstantinos FOUNTAS

Kostas N. Fountas has earned his Medical Degree from the National and

Capodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He completed his neurosurgical training at

the Medical Center of Central Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA,

USA. He completed a fellowship in Epilepsy & Functional Surgery at the Medical College

of Georgia, under Dr. Joseph R. Smith. He earned his PhD from the University of Patras,

Patra, Greece.

He has joined the Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences of the University

of Thessaly, in Larisa, Greece since 2007. He has been the Head of the Department of

Neurosurgery of the University Hospital of Larisa, since 2009. He has become full

Professor of Neurosurgery at the Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences,

University of Thessaly, Larisa, Greece since 2013.

He has published 260 PubMed indexed papers, with more than 9,235 citations.

His h-index is 54, while his i10-index is 143. He has contributed 36 chapters in

international textbooks, while he has delivered more than 275 invited lectures in national

and international conferences. He has supervised 14 doctoral theses, while he has

presented more than 350 scientific papers in national and international conferences, and

more than 500 scientific posters. He has served as President of the Greek Neurosurgical

Society for 2 years, as Chairman of the WFNS Web & Publication Committee for 2 years,

and as a member of the EANS Functional Section for more than 10 years. He is the current

chairman of the EANS Academy. He is also member of the EANS Training Course

Committee since 2023.
